We had a brilliant Virtual Group Ride using Zoom on Sunday 26 April.
Nigel took us to the Salisbury Plain over gravel roads and ammunition on the ground. The roads are smooth and perfectly fine for road tyres. If there is a red flag flying then do not proceed. If stopped by a sentry – do not proceed. As long as they are not using the Range, you can ride at a moderate speed all day, off road and not annoy anyone.
Here is a coordinate to find the middle of nowhere: N51° 14.767′ W1° 42.066′ Put that into your GPS and ride the plain.
You can find the GPX file for this ride on our website under Group Rides.
Then Wendy Peters took us up to the Manali to Leh road in India. A trip that she has ridden 3 times and 2 more in a truck.
You can find that road HERE It is called the National Highway 3 but it is anything but a highway.
It’s sudden drops and precipitous edged for 500kmh into the Himalayas.
Wendy told us of bandits, snow, rockfalls and the time that their ride-leader sat on a box of dynamite.
Please join us soon for another virtual ride out.
