Young Rider Scheme
Young riders are statistically more likely to be involved in a road traffic incident than most other groups of road users.
This is because of a number of factors, but having inadequate skills is one of the causes. Young riders are taught to pass their test, not to ride in the safest and most effective way.
We wish to address that and have 2 schemes that will help any young rider interested in becoming a better rider, to get there without the associated costs of doing so.
Under 25
If you are under 25, we will sponsor you fully to achieve your Advanced Rider qualification. But, we also recognise that a lot of young riders are easily swayed into doing other things, and so, the sponsorship works as follows.
If you join IAMRoadSmart and pass your test, we will reimburse your joining fee.
If you drop out before passing, then the loss is yours. But we will cover your Observer’s running costs associated with each ride. So, rather than you making a contribution at the end of each ride, the Club will cover that charge.
Aged 25-29
We have a slightly different scheme if you are aged 25-29.
We recognise that most riders of this age group will be in some form of employment. We will therefore refund a flat £50 on the successful passing of the Advanced Rider test.
We will cover your Observer’s running costs associated with each ride.
So, rather than you making a contribution at the end of each ride, the Club will cover that charge.
